Swedish and Deep Tissue
Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. Swedish massage uses long gliding strokes. The primary goal of Swedish massage is to relax the entire body. Additional benefits include increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, easing tension in muscles, and improving circulation & flexibility.
Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage but the focus of the pressure is on deep layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia. The deeper pressure targets and helps release painful “trouble spots”. Deep tissue massage can help relive chronic patterns of pain and tension.
Hawaiian Hot Stone Massage
Ally has successfully completed her first Mana Lomi endorsement in Lomi’ili’ili or “stones in motion” and is interest in pursuing further studies in Mana Lomi. Mana Lomi®(ML) is a specific form of Hawaiian Lomilomi massage that focuses on clinically based problem solving treatment techniques as taught by Kanaka Maoli Maka’ala Yates. Lomilomi is based on Hawaiian concepts of working with the body, mind, and spirit. It is hands on healing that is deep and powerful, yet non-invasive massage to parts of the external body’s pressure points, nerve centers and muscle tissues giving immediate and long-term relief. It removes toxic wastes, tension, pain and fatigue and replaces them with positive energy, increases circulation and improves muscle tone. Lomilomi can be used for injury prevention and recovery or to facilitate relaxation and stress relief.
Indigenous Hawaiian healers have used heated stones for hundreds of years to address the many levels of healing necessary to help restore balance in the mind, body, and soul. Heated stones are laid on the body in strategic positions to promote circulation while the skilled practitioner uses smooth heated stones as tools to achieve the desired treatment results. It is very effective for any condition for which heat is indicated. The best hot stones treatments feel as if the warm stones and hands “merge” to create a profoundly relaxing and grounding full body experience.

Cupping Therapy
Cupping Therapy is an ancient practice used by many different cultures around the world. There are records of its use in Egypt, China and several European countries as early as 1,500 BC. Cupping therapy is versatile and can be modified to achieve many outcomes ranging from lymphatic drainage, deep tissue releases, soften tight muscles, and loosen adhesions.
Cupping therapy uses the application of a cup on different points of the body. A vacuum is created in the cup by heat or suction. This vacuum draws the underlying tissue into the cup allowing the tissue to decompress. People often describe the feeling as reverse massage. Cupping may help increase circulation and some believe it helps treat pain, scar tissue in muscles, connective tissue, muscle knots and helps respiratory conditions. Cups are left in place for 5-15 minutes.
After a cupping session it is common to notice marks left on the skin. These marks can last for a few hours to a few days. The coloring is caused by the release of dead cells trapped in compressed tissue. During the healing process the marking will diminish as the wastes are eliminated by the body.
Cupping therapy can be used to:
- Decrease muscle and facial tension
- Improve flexibility and range of motion
- Break down scar tissue
- Relieve chronic pain
- Promote further healing of old injuries
- Helps clear congestion from a common cold or asthma symptoms
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy uses heated and cooled water to help with chronic pain in a natural and soothing way. Heat can help relieve tense muscles and cold can help reduce inflammation. Hydrotherapy techniques can be used in a variety of ways to help you achieve the best results possible.
